I took my first riding lesson at the age of 5 at Fox Meadow Farm. My mom, Ruth Taylor, was a long-time riding instructor at the barn teaching community students, summer riding camp and Smith riding classes for over twenty years. I grew up taking weekly lessons with Sue as a child before working with other instructors for a couple of years. Sue became my sole trainer when I was in high school and purchased my own horse. Many of my childhood memories are filled with Smith College students as role models and support around the barn. I rode in the IHSA as an undergraduate student and went on to work in collegiate riding programs for 18 years, first at Goucher College and then as the Director of Riding and Head Coach of the Equestrian Team at the University of the South. I have served on the IHSA Board of Directors with Sue for over 14 years. I currently serve as the National Director of the IHSA Alumni Association. I can't imagine my life going in the direction that it did without my experience growing up at Fox Meadow Farm the Smith College Equestrian Program and Team.
